Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world with a wealth of natural resources. High economic growth rates in recent years have also exacerbated inequality and so far failed to mitigate urban and regional poverty. The government has also shown a newfound willingness to prosecute officials of the former military regime for crimes against humanity.
