Center for Global Development
CGD aims to reduce global poverty and inequality through research & engagement with the policy community & the public. CGD's research and policy analysis on global warming focus on
climate-development linkages: assessing the stakes for developing
countries in climate change and climate negotiations; using public
information to reduce carbon emissions; and integrating climate change
into development assistance, including cost-effective promotion of
low-carbon development.
Citizens for Global Solutions
Citizens for Global Solutions is a nationwide organization that inspires America to engage the world. We
are a membership organization working to build political will in the
United States to achieve our vision. We do this by educating Americans
about our global interdependence, communicating global concerns to
public officials, and developing proposals to create, reform, and
strengthen international institutions such as the United Nations.
Earth Policy Institute
Earth Policy Institute provides a vision and plan for creating an “eco-economy” — an environmentally sustainable economy.
Integrative Strategies Forum
Integrative Strategies Forum encourages and facilitates dialogue,
partnerships, and integrative action strategies among networks and
organizations working to build sustainable communities and societies. Recognizing the interconnections
among environmental, economic, political, and social crises, the Forum
strives to identify and bring attention to the kinds of systemic thinking
and action taking place to address these crises and to build sustainable
community — locally and globally.
International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks sustainable solutions for ending hunger and poverty. IFPRI's climate change research focuses on the assessment of,
adaptation to, and mitigation of the risks climate change poses to poor people. Strategic,
cost-effective, and pro-poor policy reforms that enhance human welfare
in equitable and sustainable ways form the core of IFPRI's Global
Change Program. The Program analyzes the complex interrelations between
climate change and agricultural growth, food security, and natural
resource sustainability.
Network for New Energy Choices
Network for New Energy Choices (NNEC) provides state and local
governments with ideas and information on how to generate clean power
from local, renewable energy resources.
Oxfam America
Oxfam seeks to create equitable solutions to the climate crisis, including
greenhouse gas reduction and financial assistance for the most
vulnerable communities.
SustainUS
SustainUS is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of young people
advancing sustainable development and youth empowerment in the United
States. Through proactive education and advocacy at the policy-making and
grassroots levels, we are building a future in which all people
recognize the inherent equality and interdependence of social,
economic, and environmental sustainability.
School for Field Studies
The School for Field Studies combines hands-on environmental studies
with scientific research to develop sustainable solutions to critical
environmental problems.
Worldwatch Institute
Worldwatch is dedicated to informing policymakers and the public about
emerging global problems and trends and the complex links between the
world economy and its environmental support systems. Worldwatch's Energy and Climate Change Program aims to accelerate the
transition to a low-carbon energy system based on sustainable use of
renewable energy sources in concert with major energy-efficiency gains.
Although many argue that such a transition will be expensive and
difficult, Worldwatch research shows that it would create vast economic
opportunities, spur innovation and job creation, and assist efforts to
reduce poverty while providing a more resilient and sustainable global
energy system. The program's particular focus is on Brazil, China, Europe, India, and
the United States, which together account for 60 percent of
energy-related greenhouse gas emissions.
